Nick Saban Jokingly Bashes Jay Bilas for Messing Up Bracket

The Alabama coach is just like the rest of us, his predictions in tatters.

In the midst of one of the wildest men’s NCAA tournaments in history, millions of Americans have had their brackets cut to ruins.

That includes people from every walk of life—including, as it turns out, the greatest coach in college football history.

Alabama coach Nick Saban, interviewed at the Crimson Tide’s Pro Day on Thursday ahead of April’s NFL draft, humorously took ESPN analyst Jay Bilas to task after hitching his bracket to the former Duke center’s predictions.

“Can somebody tell Jay Bilas that I listened to his basketball picks and he completely messed up my whole bracket?” Saban said in a segment re-aired on College GameDay Saturday. “I picked every team—he said Utah State’s really good, they got beat right off the bat. And there’s no consequence for him.”

Bilas, responding to the seven-time national champion, used one of Saban’s favorite catch phrases against him.

“Why is he listening to that rat poison?” Bilas said, referencing Saban’s go-to term for positive press. “I cannot help Nick Saban if he’s gonna listen to that rat poison.”

With both Alabama and Houston falling in the Elite Eight Friday evening, every No. 1 seed has been knocked out of the tournament—the earliest that has happened since seeding began in 1979.
