The Denver Broncos signed cornerback Pat Surtain II to a mega extension this morning which made him the highest paid cornerback in the league.

It was reported earlier this morning that the Denver Broncos have signed All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain II to a mega four-year extension worth $96 million dollars. This is a well-deserved contract extension for Surtain II who is the Broncos’ best player, the best corner in the league, and someone they’re going to build around moving forward.

Unlike with other teams, the Broncos got this extension done without any drama. We saw Brandon Aiyuk, Ceedee Lamb, Ja’Marr Chase, and Trent Williams all sit out training camp and the preseason awaiting extensions from their team. Surtain went the opposite route. He practiced every day, played in the second preseason game, and there was no drama between the two sides.

This surprise announcement on a Wednesday morning before week one of the regular season was an exciting one for Broncos Country. We all knew it was coming sooner rather than later but there was not any buzz that it was close so it was an exciting way to start our Wednesday morning.

Here is a collection of reactions from NFL media, Broncos fans, current players, and everyone else about the Broncos making cornerback Pat Surtain II the highest-paid cornerback in the league
