Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette has not suited up for club since July 19th, with a lingering calf injury keeping him on the injured list multiple times this season. Speaking to reporters yesterday, manager John Schneider updated fans on Bichette’s current status as the season continues to wind down.
“He’s going to come with us to Atlanta to kind of continue to do everything… If it works out that after that weekend, he’s ready to roll, that’d be great.”
Should Bichette continue to trend in the right direction, running the bases and working on the field as he continues to work towards in-game action in the near future. The hope is that he will see some rehab action in the minor leagues before joining the Blue Jays sometime over the next two weeks before the end of the campaign.
Bo Bichette continues to work towards returning this season
It has been a down season for the former top prospect, as the Jays infielder boasts a .222/.275/.320 slash line through 80 games. The right-handed hitter has amassed just four home runs and 30 RBIs through 360 at-bats and has struggled to a .595 OPS on the season – a far cry in comparison to when he led the A.L. in hits in 2021 and 2022.
Bo Bichette ran the bases yesterday and will again tomorrow. He’s also hitting, fielding, etc.
Bichette will travel to Atlanta with the #BlueJays this weekend while he ramps up and could begin a rehab assignment soon.

With the down campaign and the lack of long-term extension talks, Bichette’s name has also been churning in the rumour mill as of late. The shortstop has not helped his case with the midsummer comments amidst the club’s down campaign and it appears that he could be moved this offseason, especially if the extension talks continue to break down or the front office pivots to teammate Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
For his career, Bichette owns a .290/.332/.466 slash line with a .798 OPS and 93 home runs – producing 20 or more round trippers over his past three campaigns heading into this season. Bichette has collected 342 RBIs across six seasons with the Jays and owns a 119 OPS+ since making his debut back in 2019.
