The Blue Jays are sending a young lineup into the field Sunday afternoon for their series finale against the Minnesota Twins.
There’s no sign of the Blue Jays’ big guns in the lineup: no Vladimir Guerrero Jr., no George Springer, no Alejandro Kirk and no Daulton Varsho.
Instead, Nathan Lukes will bat leadoff, with Ernie Clement, Spencer Horwitz, Addison Barger and Leo Jimenez filling out the other top five spots. Joey Loperfido, Davis Schneider, Luis De Los Santos and Brian Serven will round out the rest of the lineup.
It’s the time of year for teas like the Jays, sitting well out of the playoff picture, to let the kids play. Sunday’s lineup also marks a stark contrast to the lineups seen earlier in the season, when the Jays tabled one of the older lineups in all of baseball with the likes of Justin Turner, Kevin Kiermaier, Daniel Vogelbach and Isiah Kiner-Falefa getting lots of playing time.
