The Miami Dolphins saw their significant investments at pass rush pay dividends in 2023. Jaelan Phillips, a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft, had a stretch with six sacks over five games. Bradley Chubb, who was acquired by Miami in a blockbuster trade in 2022, recorded 11 sacks and a league-leading six forced fumbles.

But disaster struck when Phillips suffered an Achilles tear and Chubb tore his ACL, robbing the Dolphins of much of their defensive firepower down the stretch. So general manager Chris Grier went to work in the offseason, signing Shaquil Barrett in free agency and drafting Chop Robinson in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft.

Is the retooled Dolphins pass rush among the best in the NFL? That question was answered by ESPN’s Mike Clay who used a formula to grade and sort every position unit heading into the 2024 season.
