Which former Sean McVay assistant will win most games in 2024?

The Rams HC has a great coaching tree, who will be the most successful among them?

The Sean McVay coaching tree got one person lighter when Brandon Staley was fired by the L.A. Chargers during the 2023 season, but then added another when Raheem Morris was hired by the Atlanta Falcons in January.

McVay’s coaching tree—whether you want to call it that or not because I know some take offense to calling people like Matt LaFleur or even Morris as a branch—is already one of the most successful in league history. It’s already better than Bill Belichick’s coaching tree.

Which coach off the young block will win the most games in 2024?

Matt LaFleur, Packers

Pros: Career 56-27 record, Jordan Love

Cons: Hot Seat?

It seems crazy to suggest that LaFleur is on the hot seat because he’s been cited as maybe one of the most unappreciated head coaches in the league (transitioning from a Hall of Fame QB into a new era is not easy), however the Packers are 17-17 in the past two seasons. If Green Bay didn’t make the playoffs this year, what would they do?

The Packers play in an improved NFC North division that saw the Lions go 12-5 last season and the Bears drafted Caleb Williams first overall, in addition to receiver Rome Odunze at ninth overall. Could Green Bay win 10 games in the NFC North? Probably only if Jordan Love is as good as he was in the second half of 2023.

Kevin O’Connell, Vikings

Pros: Justin Jefferson

Cons: Sam Darnold

The Vikings got really lucky in 2022 when KOC helped them go 13-4 with a perfect record in one-score games. Then unlucky in 2023, going 4-8 in games decided by 7 or less.

The team has arguably the best non-QB in the entire NFL, they might go at least 8-9, but can they make the playoffs with a combination of Darnold and rookie J.J. McCarthy at QB?

Zac Taylor, Bengals

Pros: Joe Burrow

Cons: AFC North

It is the most stacked division in football, evidenced by the Bengals going 9-8 and still finishing in last place. It seems like of all the teams to rebound, the Bengals will be the most likely to do it because they have such a potent offense and have had a lot of recent success with Zac Taylor.

Raheem Morris, Falcons

Pros: NFC South

Cons: Lack of Speed

Kirk Cousins goes from O’Connell to Raheem Morris this year and he plays behind what should be a great offensive line. Nothing against Bijan Robinson and Drake London, the skill players leave something to be desired, especially speed. Yes, they have good athletes there like Robinson and Kyle Pitts, but there’s a ton of pressure on their one or two good receivers right now. Still, this is a terrible division, so they could win 12 games by accident.
