The Jets often overlooked tight end may deserve more credit

The New York Jets 2024 roster is not short on star power, featuring a roster that includes future Hall of Famers in quarterback Aaron Rodgers and offensive tackle Tyron Smith, along with some of the best young talents in the league in cornerback Sauce Gardner, running back Breece Hall, and wide receiver Garrett Wilson. However, the roster is also loaded with a ton of depth that often flies under the radar.

Among those less talked about players is tight end Tyler Conklin, who was recently named the New York Jets most underrated player by Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated.

Indeed, Conklin is often dismissed by Jets fans, even as he comes off of a season where he ranked 11th in receptions and 13th in yards among tight ends.

With that said, Conklin is far from the only nominee. Lost in the wake of Sauce Gardner’s excellence are cornerbacks D.J. Reed and Michael Carter, who are bona fide top 20 cornerbacks in their own right. There are also linebackers C.J. Mosley and Quincy Williams, who graded out as top-tier linebackers last season. And that isn’t to mention kicker Greg Zuerlein and punter Thomas Morstead, who were superb within their roles last season.

Overall though, Conklin seems like a justifiable choice. What do you think? Who is the New York Jets most underrated player in your opinion?
