Texans: Touchdown Wire high on Houston’s postseason chances in 2024

After taking over the NFL by storm last season, the Houston Texans have gone from being the hunted to becoming a hunter in the AFC.

Headlined by rookie sensation C.J. Stroud at quarterback, Houston has a lethal passing attack with three Pro Bowl-caliber receivers. The expectation is for the ground game to improve under Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon, who should serve as an upgrade over Devin Singletary.

Defensively, the Texans bolstered every weak point after a near-top-10 finish last season. While Jonathan Greenard left in free agency, four-time Pro Bowler and Katy native Danielle Hunter took his place. Exit leading tackler Blake Cashman, entering top-five tackler from 2023 Azeez Al-Shaair.
As for the secondary, Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter looks like a steal after impressing early in OTAs.

Everything is in place for Houston to only build off its AFC South champion season, but will the hype not match the on-field execution? According to Touchdown Wire, that won’t be a concern.
The Texans are listed as one of eight teams placed in the ‘Super Bowl Contender’ category entering 2024, comparing them closest to the Packers since both teams have emerging talents at quarterback.

Houston and Green Bay both have rising superstars under center and tremendous supporting casts around them. While the Texans’ group of pass catchers features more big names, the Packers have four legit guys that play their respective roles in making the Packers’ pass attack work. They both made it to the divisional round a season ago, and it would not shock me if one of them is playing in Super Bowl LIX.
