Welcome to the Pride: Max Gerber

Get to know Pride of Detroit’s newest writer, Max Gerber!

Hello, fellow Detroit Lions fans!

My name is Max Gerber and I am very excited to be joining the team over here at Pride of Detroit as both a writer and an editor.

My journey into sports writing started back in 2016 when I decided to create a Twitter account specifically for Detroit Lions content. Things grew from there and I eventually started my own blog in order to get my name out there. After almost a year of blogging, I got my first shot at writing for a Lions-focused website. I put out weekly articles for FanSided’s SideLion Report for most of the 2018 season and moved on to USA Today’s Lions Wire just a few months later. I started with Lions Wire in 2019 and while I am sad to leave, I am excited to move on to this new opportunity.

Outside of writing about the Lions, I am a third-grade teacher in Falls Church, Virginia. I am also a high school football coach at Justice High School in Falls Church, where we were named National District Champions in 2021. At Justice, I have served as freshmen head coach as well as an assistant on varsity for multiple position groups. Football is my world and I am lucky enough to be able to both coach it and write about it.

I can’t wait to begin putting out some Detroit Lions content for Pride of Detroit and more importantly, for the amazing and loyal fans who read our work. Be sure to follow me @maxgerbs.
