Robbie Chosen won’t be on the 90-man roster, but a good camp showing could provide him a roster spot.

The Seattle Seahawks have found their “Chosen” one. Get it? GET IT?!

NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported on Monday that Robbie Chosen, formerly Robby Anderson, Robbie Anderson, and Chosen Anderson, will join the Seahawks at mandatory minicamp this week on a tryout basis. Seattle’s minicamp runs from June 11 through June 13 before the team breaks for late July training camp.

Chosen has remained unsigned after spending 2023 with the Miami Dolphins. His only notable involvement was a 68-yard touchdown in garbage time that extended Miami’s slender lead over the Denver Broncos to 63-13. Miami would eventually hang on for a 70-20 victory.

There was once a time when Chosen had far more productivity in meaningful game action. Back in 2020 he caught 95 passes for 1,096 yards and 3 touchdowns on a 5-11 Carolina Panthers team. Undrafted out of Temple, Chosen began his NFL career with the New York Jets, with whom he played four seasons with and amassed 207 catches for 3,059 yards and 20 touchdowns.

After Chosen’s Panthers tenure ended unceremoniously, he was sent to the Arizona Cardinals before the 2022 trade deadline. He only caught seven passes for 76 yards and no touchdowns before Arizona released him the following offseason.

There is no need to overcomplicate this: At 31 years old with rapidly declining productivity (and a bad ending to his Carolina stint), it’s extremely unlikely that this turns into anything beyond a tryout for Chosen. But the beauty of the offseason is the slim chance that he impresses, lands a contract, and can potentially salvage his career.
