P.J. Walker played against the Seahawks last season when he was with the Cleveland Browns.

The Seattle Seahawks have added a third quarterback, one whose name should be familiar to those who watched one of Seattle’s more dramatic wins from last season.

Former XFL quarterback P.J. Walker has agreed to terms with the Seahawks, according to the Seattle Times. Walker’s previous NFL stints were with the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns.

Seattle brought in rookie undrafted free agent Chevan Cordeiro as the team’s third quarterback immediately following the NFL Draft. He was released shortly after rookie minicamp, while none of the tryout players, including former Maryland starter Taulia Tagovailoa, landed a contract to be QB3 behind Geno Smith and Sam Howell.

Walker provides 21 games and 9 starts worth of NFL experience. Seahawks fans will remember Walker filling in for the injured Deshaun Watson last October, when Seattle rallied for a 24-20 win after Walker’s critical third down pass bounced off of Jamal Adams’ helmet and into the arms of Julian Love for an interception. The Seahawks would get a game-winning touchdown off of that turnover. Walker finished the game 15/31 for 248 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions, and a lost fumble.

Seattle considered signing Walker in 2020 after he made a name for himself in the XFL with the Houston Roughnecks. He was an impressive 119/184 (64.7%) for 1,338 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions in five games before the league was forced to cease operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Carolina signed Walker and kept him on the roster for three seasons, and even though a celebration penalty on D.J. Moore and subsequent missed PAT by Eddy Pineiro meant the Panthers lost this game, this throw is easily Walker’s career NFL highlight.

Walker’s career NFL stats are 185/339 (54.6%) for 2,135 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.

Seattle’s 90-man roster (with a +1 exemption for offensive lineman Max Pircher through the International Player Pathway program) is full, so someone is going to be let go imminently to make room for Walker.
