Deion Sanders on This Week’s Rivalry Game: ‘This Is Personal’

Deion Sanders is ready to bring back the bad-blood rivalry between Colorado and Nebraska ahead of this weekend’s matchup.

The two teams played against each other for around a century before realignment separated them in 2011. But, the teams have faced each other the last six years, and now will play again on Saturday.

This time, Sanders is bringing a different energy to the locker room to prepare the Buffaloes.

“I’ve learned the serious nature of this rivalry, and I’m embracing it 100%,” Sanders said during Tuesday’s press conference. “This is personal. That’s the message of the week. This is personal.”

Sanders’s son, Colorado quarterback Shedeur, told reporters on Tuesday that the team is also not wearing any red in the facilities this week to fully embrace the school’s dislike of Nebraska.

Colorado is coming off a massive 45–42 win over No. 17 TCU last Saturday, which helped push the Buffaloes to the No. 22 spot in this week’s AP Top 25 poll. On the other hand, Nebraska lost its opener to Minnesota 10–13 last Thursday.
